My Senegal parrot is shaking its head. Should I take it to the vet?

Hi There, I have a Senegal Parrot, and for the last couple of days we have noticed that she keeps shaking her head left and right every now and then. Not sure what it means. She doesn't look ill or in pain. She is still her playful self, so what does that mean? Should we take her to a vet? Bruce

Thanks for reaching out about Babi. Shaking the head side to side can be an indication of a sinus infection, neurologic behavior or other condition. A short period of 10-15 minutes, in the steamy bathroom can help open nasal passages. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess. Vitamin deficiencies such as vitamin A, can lead to infections (including sinuses) so a dietary review at the veterinarian is another recommendation. Good luck.
