My puppy won't eat or drink. Is it safe for him to meet other dogs?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 26 days old

Hi, I picked up my puppy on Friday, it’s now Sunday morning and he’s hardly drank or eaten, I think maybe he’s forgotten with all the excitement? Should I worry? What can I do to encourage him to drink especially? Well my parents in law have a dog who’s fully vaccinated, she’s very motherly, I’ve thought about bringing her to meet him and she’ll show him how to eat - is it safe to do that as he’s 8 weeks old and not fully vaccinated. Thank you

It is a bit concerning that Banjo has hardly eaten or drank, and I would keep a close eye on him. If he hasn't eaten or drank by tomorrow, take him into the vet. You can try offering him some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice with gently warmed low sodium chicken broth on it. Yes, you can take him over to your parents' house. Their dog will be safe because she is fully vaccinated. Best of luck.
