My cat's paw is swollen and bleeding. Should I take her to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 2 years and 1 month old | 8 lbs

My cats paw is extremely swollen. I checked her paw out and saw that she was bleeding. I’m not sure what going on. I just want to know what I can do or what I can buy as in medication and such to reduce the swelling and get it back to normal. Thank you

Poor Misty. It could be she has injured her paw or has an infection causing the swelling and bleeding. Unfortunately this isn't something that can be treated with OTC medications, she needs to see a vet. I would take her into a vet now to have this treated. Best of luck.

As she is badly injured you should take her to the vet right away, she will need that wound cleaned, if it is still bleeding it will need to be bandaged or sutures depending on the type of injury, she will also need antibiotics and pain killers.
