My dog ate Dove soap. Is it toxic? What symptoms should I watch for?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 years and 10 months old | 8 lbs

Came home to see my dog was chewing on a bar of Dove soap. It looks like she broke a few tiny pieces off the one end of the soap but nothing more. What are some symptoms I should look out for? Is soap toxic to dogs?

Dove soap isn't toxic, but you may see some GI upset from this. If you see persistent vomiting and diarrhea, bloating, pacing, pain, swelling of the face and muzzle, or difficulty breathing (the last two symptoms could be caused by an allergic reaction to ingredients in the soap), take Zoey into a vet immediately. I hope this helps!
