Should I neuter stray male cats I feed to prevent tomcat fights?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi. Recently (2-3 months) two male cats have been coming by my house and i've been feeding them twice a day. They're really friendly, one is a red tabby cat and the other is a mackerel tabby. Lately the red one has been coming inside the house and he just chills. So i've been wondering if it would be ok, when i take them to the vet for shots, to also spay them? Where i live there are lots of feral cats and i don't want them to end up in fights with the other tom cats. would spaying protect them?

Yes you can take them into the vet to have them neutered if they don’t have owners. That would be lovely of you! It will cut down on fighting, but keeping them indoors all the time. will prevent any fighting. Best of luck.
