Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Female | unspayed | 14 years and 3 months old | 4 lbs
My dog is 14 years old, her name is Bonita, she's Chihuahua. Monday the 1st I took her to the vet with diarrhea and vomiting. The doctor gave her fluids, an antibiotic shot and a shot for nausea. Today is the 4th and she hasn't had a bowel movement nor has she vomited. She has a really great appetite, I've been feeding her boiled chicken, sometimes with rice. Can I give her milk of magnesia for constipation?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Bonita. It is unlikely that she is constipated unless she is straining to defecate and only producing small firm stool. She will likely defecate soon, but it can take awhile after having diarrhea. The diarrhea and vomiting emptied the gastrointestinal tract. After she is eating normally for a period of time, then she will begin having regular bowel movements. This can take a few days in some cases though. So I would not give her milk of magnesia at this point. I hope this information helps!
