My cat ate a marshmallow. Is it toxic? Should I take her to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 7 lbs

I dont think she got to get too much of it, heck i didnt think shed bother it at all, but when i went to the bathroom and came back my cat was licking a marshmallow. I read the ingredients and cant find any xylitol/xanthan in them so should i be worried and take her to the vet? They are regular kraft Jef-puffed jumbo marshmallows. That are fatfree.. i dont know that if being fatfree they will have xylitol/xanthan in them.. other ingredients are in the photo. Mental note keep marshmallows in bag.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and adding the picture! I think Miracle will be fine. There is nothing toxic in marshmallows. If she ate a lot of them, I would worry about vomiting or diarrhea but I doubt she ate enough to cause a problem. Kisses to Miracle!
