Why are my dog's ears red and hot, and her stomach skin turning dark?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 9 months and 14 days old | 66 lbs

My dog's ears have been red and HOT for a while now. Initially I thought it was just because she was a puppy and a little more sensitive but now it is very hot. Also, her stomach was white and has progressively gotten darker and darker now it is a charcoal color but there is no scaling or anything.

It could be a sign of allergies or low grade irritation. Your best and most thorough option is to have Sophie examined by the veterinarian. The skin can get darker in the groin and arm pit areas naturally but the ears should not be red. I hope this helps.
