My cat's bite wounds are sore days after vet care. Is that normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | 4 years and 3 months old | 21 lbs

My cat was in fight and bitten by another cat Friday night. Sunday he was treated at vet , wound areas shaved and cleaned and given Convenia, rabies and anti inflam injections. Today is Wed and his wounds look good but appear to still be sore when touched plus it looks like they may have missed one and not shaved that one. Is soreness normal at this time ? Please give any input. He is eating/drinking normal and I been keeping him indoors. Attached 3 pics. Thank you

I think the wounds looks really good. I would not be worried about him being sore. That is normal. It is possible for them to have missed something as sometimes an abscess can pop up after the fact although, the Convenia injection should keep the bacteria at bay, but it is possible. I cannot appreciate any other swelling from the photos. I can only see the shaved areas. I suggest you just monitor him for now since he is eating/drinking/etc and if the swelling does not go down or gets larger then he should go back to the vet for a follow-up exam.
