My dog is vomiting and won't eat after a salmonella food recall. Vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rough Collie | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 9 months old | 17.7 lbs

Lulu has been vomiting for two days now. The vomit is clear but is slightly yellow. I can’t get her to eat anything this morning. I’m able to keep her hydrated because she is still drinking water just fine. I feed her Purina One dry food and just found out there is a recall due to salmonella. Do I need to take her to the vet?

Yes, if her food was recalled due to Salmonella contamination then she needs to see a vet. This is not something you should wait on. Salmonella can be extremely serious and can even cause death. If you catch it soon she will have a better chance at recovery. Hopefully it is just a bout of gastritis but it is better to be safe than sorry.
