Puppy has parvo. Can an emergency vaccine save my other dog?

I just had a puppy diagnosed with parvo today. I've had him 2 days and I'm afraid my german shepherd might get sick. If I give her a parvo shot today what is the chances she'll not get it? Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 7 years and 6 months old | 45 lbs

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! That is not how vaccines work unfortunately. Vaccines require the immune system of the vaccinated patient to mount a response which may take a few weeks. By that time, parvovirus is unlikely to be in your pup's system. The best thing would be to separate them for at least 3 weeks until everything clears on your pup and make sure your German Shepherd does not have contact with your pup. Best of luck!
