What's in my corn snake's water dish? Is it poop? Should I call a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Other Snake | Male | 9 months and 14 days old

I’m currently out of state and having someone take care of my 9 month old corn snake. He was fed on Thursday, and my snake sitter found what’s in the photo in his water dish yesterday (Monday). I can’t figure out what it is. What is it, and should I be worried? I’ve never seen something like this before, so naturally I’m already concerned. He’s vomited once since I got him in February. What is all that in the water dish, and should I take him to the vet?

Thanks for reaching out about Francis and including photos. No, this appears to be feces and urates. The feces seems to be well formed and not diarrhea. If behavior is normal, a veterinary visit is not needed for this, but if you have not had a veterinary initial visit, that is recommended. Good luck.
