My dog bit her nipple and has an open wound. Why did this happen?

My dog has made wound in her nipple by byting herself,I didn't catch any reason for that. Pet's info: Dog | Native American Indian Dog | Female | 40 lbs

Hi, I am afraid to tell you that this wound and the biting is secondary to a primary problem that is likely to be an ulcerated mammary tumour. I would really recommend to have Becky checked over as she can’t be left with an open wound that will just attract flies, parasites and must be extremely painful as well !
