My dog ate a leather belt a week ago, now vomiting chunks. What to do?

My dog ate a leather belt a week ago. I did not think anything of it because he has been eating and pooping just fine. But this morning he vomited and some chunks of leather belt came up with it. Should I be concerned at all?

Hi, it is probably safer to have him checked over. He could be having gastritis or it could be that pieces of the leather belt are causing a partial obstruction. Your vet will be able to tell what’s the best way forwards after having him checked over. Hope all goes well !

There is a chance that the leather has caused an intestinal foreign body obstruction/blockage. Since this has been going on for 2 days, your dog should go to an ER vet immediately for an exam and abdominal x-rays. If a foreign body is suspected, he will likely need surgery to remove the leather piece. I hope that all goes well!
