My 7-month, 65lb puppy eats 4 cups. Should I feed him 6 cups?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Alaskan Malamute | Male | unneutered | 7 months and 9 days old | 42 lbs

Our puppy is 7 months old and eating 4 cups of food a day should get more food. Because on the hills science diet bag it says 6 cups. He is 65 lbs.

Here is a link about feeding puppies: https://www.petcoach.co/article/feeding-puppies-what-when-how/ It is difficult for me to know if this is enough food or not because I can not palpate Rocky's body to know if he has a good body condition score. If he is too thin, then yes, he would benefit from increasing his food. If his weight is good, you will slightly increase it it every time he gains a few more pounds. Your veterinarian is often the best person to help you since they can physically examine Rocky. I hope this helps.
