My dog's ear is swollen and hot after a bite. Should I see a vet now?

Tate was bit in the ear last night. Bleeding stopped and it’s scabbed. The ear is swollen and hot. He has a vet appointment tomorrow. Is this something that should be seen sooner ?

Poor Tate! I would try to get him examined today if possible. Without an exam, it's impossible to know if the swelling is related to a broken blood vessel or if it is related to infection. You may try to find another vet who has availability today. If it's an infection, starting Tate on antibiotics would be beneficial. Best of luck.

Hello. If Tate is very uncomfortable, shaking his head or digging at the ear, you might try to have him seen today, but as long as there is no active bleeding, Tate should be fine until tomorrow. The ear may swell a bit more, but your vet will be able to recommend the correct treatments. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
