My parakeet is aggressive months after mating season. How to stop it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Parakeet | Female | unspayed

I asked a question a while ago about my bird and got the answer that she would eventually get over it cause of mating season, well I’m pretty sure mating season is over and my parakeet is still aggressive towards me and other people. It’s been about 4 months, what am I doing wrong, and what can I do to stop it?

Winning the trust of a scared bird can be difficult. The book "A Guide to a Well Behaved Parrot" by Gary Gallerstein, is a great reference for behavioral training in birds. Continuing to offer treats by hand with slow, deliberate movements can help win trust. Good luck.
