I highly doubt this will be harmful but it would really depend on the size of the dog. If this is a tiny dog (less than 10 pounds) then this could pose a risk for obstruction. In a larger dog, not likely. You may or may not see the casings come out in the stools but you should. It can take up to 30 hours to completely pass through the whole GI tract. I suggest you feed some high fiber foods for the next couple days to help "push" the casings through: bread, pasta, canned pumpkin, etc. work well. This should be in place of, or mixed in with, the regular diet. If the dog starts vomiting or having any problems defecating then you should get him/her to the vet for an exam. Hope this helps. If you have more questions you can always opt for a private consultation where we can chat back and forth. That way you can ask as many questions as you'd like. Best wishes.

Thanks for visiting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. No worries, he should be able to move this along his GI tract no problem. He will likely just poop it straight out. Sometimes this can cause a bout of loose stool, so if seen you can feed him a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese, and 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) can help add fiber to solidy his stools again. Otherwise, he should be just fine. Take care.
