Is Vitamin E cream toxic if my small Boston Terrier licked it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Female | spayed | 3 years and 4 months old | 18 lbs

Allergen / deadly to small Boston Terrier if ingested? Lotion containing: Lanalool, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Geraniol, Benzyl salicylate. My dog has been licking Vitamin E cream with these ingredients (applied to her tummy and leg - red and dry rash). Thank you.

This is probably not anything to worry about. Any dog can have a reaction to any medication (just like a human) so I cannot say with 100% certainty that there will be no issues. All I can advise you to do at this point is to monitor for any signs of illness and get Mia checked by your vet if any symptoms are noted. Also, try to curb her from licking this in the future. You may need to get her a "cone" collar so she can't lick. If she has a "rash" on her abdomen Vitamin E cream is not likely to help it. Most of the time a rash is due to a bacterial infection and antibiotics are needed to clear it up.
