My baby rabbit got milk in its nose. Is it at risk for pneumonia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed

I got a bunch of milk in my orphan baby rabbits nose(no rehab nearby)She's 3 weeks old fed by the bottle and I always watch very close, but for some reason i just spaced out for a second and then the next thing I see is her shoot out her nipple followed by so much milk being sneezed out her nose. She kept sneezing out it for many seconds, and then for a few minutes she sat there with rattling/wheezing breathing as if there's still milk in there. Pleas is it possible to save her from pneumonia?

Thanks for reaching out about Immsy. A veterinary visit can help assess and determine if pneumonia and whether antibiotics needed. Try to get on solid foods as soon as possible, as cow's or goat's milk are not 100% appropriate for rabbits. Good luck.
