Why does my dog pee while sleeping? Is it urinary incontinence?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Catahoula Leopard Dog | Female | spayed | 1 year and 3 months old | 25 lbs

Hello, I have a 1 year old Catahoula Leopard dog, she is spayed and up to date on shots, since a couple of weeks now she has been peeing whenever she is resting, or sleeping. And it’s become pretty out of hand, her entire bed is soaked with pee, and I’m washing it almost everyday, but she’s still doing it. I even give her 2-3 walks before bedtime just to make sure she doesn’t do it, but it hasn’t stopped. I’m really worried and I’m not sure what to do. Please help, thank you.

Sounds like she has urinary incontinence. I suggest you get her to your vet for a urine check. She is a bit young for this condition to manifest but if it is the case, there is medication to control the problem. ( https://www.petcoach.co/article/urinary-incontinence-in-dogs/ )
