Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 30 lbs
Just adopted a 6 month old male Labrador retriever today. He has been active and seems to be happy, but he's had pink tinged diarrhea for the past 6 hours or so. He also wants to eat nonstop. I don't know what's normal activity for him, so I'm not sure if he's behaving differently than normal. Should I be concerned?

Congratulations on your new addition! The stress or excitement of a new home or a new diet may be contributing to his dietary woes. Intestinal parasites are also a concern. If Waffles is behaving normally otherwise, try withholding food for 12-24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts Begin with 1 tablespoon of food every hour and gradually increase the amount. Feed bland until the stool is normal then transition slowly to the regular diet. Submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites. Monitor for persistent diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian.
