My dog has red spots on his stomach. What to do & when to call vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | neutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 77 lbs

Charlie is a German Shepherd, 1 year, no known allergies. He is fed Gentle Giants bramd dog food. Neutered in April. Up to date on care, vaccines, Iverheart, and Brovecto. I noticed some flat, dry, red spots around his stomach/genital/ inside of hind legs area. I have not seen him licking or itching. He's spent a lot of time outdoors. What can I do at home to treat it & when should I call a vet? His habits & behavior are all normal. Fur looks thin but because it's still growing back from neuter.

Hello. Since Charlie does not seem to be bothered by these areas, I would not be too concerned. They may be insect bites or just very minor areas of focal irritation. As long as Charlie seems unaffected, just monitor for additional occurances & call your vet if he begins to lick, chew or gnaw at any areas excessively.
