My dog has a wound on the side of his head. Should I go to the vet?

I have been looking after this dog for about a week. After a couple days after I was watching over her, I noticed this one wound on the side of her head. I don’t know if it’s something I should worry about or if it’s something I should definitely go to the vet for.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is hard to say from the picture but the wound looks superficial. Because it is on the head I would be worried he is causing himself trauma due to something else, like an ear infection. If he is scratching the area he is likely uncomfortable and I do recommend taking him to a vet for relief. If not, you can try cleaning the area with a mild soap and water (no more than 2 times daily) and make sure the area is dry after. Good luck and kisses to the pup!
