My dog has green eye boogers and crusty eyes. When should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 1 year and 10 months old | 10 lbs

My dog has developed some green eye boogers just a few days ago, i searched it up and saw it could be pink eye i also called my vet and she said it could be a scratch. The eye doesn’t seem irritated or inflamed but i’ve attached a photo so u can see how she has the green eye boogers and some crust under on the little hairs. Should i go in for a vet visit or maybe buy some eye medication from petsmart? What do you think?

I agree that her eye does not appear irritated. From the photo, that does not appear green, it looks grayish to me. You may watch it for a few more days. You could use saline and gently flush the eye. If the discoloration continues, have her examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps.
