Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 5 years and 9 months old | 12 lbs
I'm concerned my cat may have crystals. He's 6 years old & neutered. Recently, his penis has been out and he has been licking it. It looks very red and today I noticed there is some black spots on the outside of where it retracts into his skin. He has been constipated and his last couple of stools look very dark, almost black, but fully formed. He still urinates as normal. I don't know if I'm overreacting, but I don't want to bring him to a vet if it's not necessary as he needs to be sedated

I would say it’s necessary to take Rexy into a vet. His urethra could become blocked, which is a medical emergency and fatal without treatment. Plus it sounds like there is blood in his stools. Please take him into a vet now. Best of luck.
