My parakeet's nest is dark. What nesting materials should I use?

Hi my bird Angel might be pregnant and she is a parakeet and I bought her a little birdhouse/nest in her cage to use and she keeps going inside but I need to buy materials to put in it. May you please tell me the materials I need to put in her bird house? Also it’s a little dark in there too. Thanks! Pet's info: Bird | Parakeet | Female | unspayed

You can offer straw or shredder paper towels. Leave nesting materials in her cage and she will choose what she wants. Don't worry if it is dark in the nest or nesting box. If she is not caged with a male, the eggs she lays will be infertile.
