What is this red spot with a black dot on my ferret's belly?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Exotic | Unknown - Exotic | Female | spayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 2.5 lbs

Female ferret has reddish purple circle on stomach about an inch big, with a blackhead like thing in the middle. She doesn't seem to be bothered by it when I touch it. I also cant feel any lump or mass on it, except for the black dot. What is it? (I shaved the hair around it for a better picture)

Thanks for reaching out about Loki and including photos. Could be a spider bite or other injury? Concerned that the black area is dead (necrotic) tissue. A veterinary visit is recommended, even though does not seem painful. Some spider bites contain toxins that can spread. Histiocytomas are other common dermal lesions but are usually very pruritic. Good luck.
