Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 58 lbs
My dog tripped last night and is now walking funny, and can't stand still for log periods of time without sitting unless she's on my bed then she's fine. She can flex everything and move her back legs freely when laying down. She tries to walk but struggles on hard surfaces. Massages seem to help a little, and she plays normal when on the bed and hasn't lost appetite. Could she have sprained something?

Poor Athena. It certainly sounds like she could have hurt herself last night. I recommend resting her for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take her out to toilet on a leash, and bring her right back in when she's done. If she still appears painful after this time, then I would take her into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. She may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give her any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Best of luck.
