Why is my neutered dog bleeding from his penis after humping?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Staffordshire Bull Terrier | Male | neutered

my Staffordshire bull terrier humped like madly on the pillow then I seen blood stain and on his penis with it fully out, is he ill with cancer or prostate problem? He has been neutered.

It sounds like Tyson was masturbating, which neutered dogs can do and is normal. But it sounds like he was a bit vigorous doing it, leading to him injuring his penis and blood. Check his penis to make sure the bleeding has stopped. If he starts humping vigorously again, redirect his attention to something else. Best of luck.

All that humping and masturbating probably irritated his prostate so much that it started to bleed. If the bleeding stopped and his urine does not look bloody either, then this was probably a one-time episode. If you do not intend to use Zeus for breeding, then I suggest you have him neutered, as he will react like that for every female within 2 miles when she is in heat. This is a lot of stress for a male uncastrated dog. If you think there is more bleeding, better have Zeus checked out by your veterinarian.
