My senior cat's burst cyst isn't healing and oozes. What to do?

Pet's info: Cat | American Longhair | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

My 17 year old cat nugget had a large cyst burst on his side. It doesnt seem to be healing. It oozes a little with a little bit of blood. How can I take care of the wound?

You may not be able to without help. Ruptured cysts can be at risk for infection. The tissue may also have abnormal vasculature which delays or impedes healing. You can protect it from further injury by making Nugget wear an elizabethan collar at all times and keeping it clean and dry. I recommend to have Nugget examined by the veterinarian today. He may get an antibiotic. Depending on the size, some of these cats will get a special salve to encourage tissue healing. Best of luck.
