What can I safely put on my Chiweenie's skin rash to help soothe it?

I have a year old chiweenie who has developed a rash. Wondering what i can give him or put on it without hurting him.

Prevent him from licking the area by having him wear an elizabethan collar at all times. You can wash the area daily with soap and rinse well. Once it is dried, you can apply a dab of coconut oil and rub it in well. Make sure he does not lick this as it can cause GI upset. If it does not start improving within 5 days, have him examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
