Black spots on a dogs eye indicates either an eye freckle or eye tumor. The next step is to get your vet to do a complete eye exam, which then may lead to a second opinion through a veterinary ophthalmologist to confirm. I do hope that this is just an eye freckle, but it is impossible to say for sure with just a photo. I wish you all the best moving forward with Beck. Best wishes and take care. : )

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Can you post a picture? If this is a new change then I would have him checked by your Vet. It could be bruising of the skin from a clotting issue or low platelets, infectious causes or trauma. Another possibilities is excessive tearing. Dog tears contain a pigment that is reddish brown and can stain the fur around the eyes. Please post a picture if you can so we can better guide you. I hope this helps!

The bump like things above her eyes are special whisker type hairs with special sensory cells....very normal. The pigmentation on the eyelid should be examined by your veterinarian as that may be a mass that could eventually cause some damage to the eye via rubbing, or it could be a cyst, an abscess or cancer. I suggest you schedule an exam with your veterinarian soon.

It's possible there could be an injury to the eye if it appeared suddenly, or a congenital defect if it's always been there. However, if you are concerned, the spots appeared suddenly, or it seems bothersome to Ralph, having it examined by your local vet or a veterinary ophthalmologist is best.
