My indoor cat has a face scratch. When is a vet visit needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Male | neutered | 5.8 lbs

I found my indoor cat with a relatively wide scratch on his face. Not near the eye luckily. I've washed it with Hibiscrub antibacterial wash. It's not bleeding and they do not seem to be in any discomfort or grooming that area. Does it need a vet visit when they open up?

Poor Dexter! He's a handsome boy. I have a Ragdoll as well, they are my favorite breed of cats. Just keep an eye on the area for signs of infection. If it does appear infected, then have him seen by a vet. Best of luck.
