My FIV cat is active but not gaining weight. How can I help her thrive?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed | 10 years and 5 months old | 4 lbs

My cat has FIV and isn't gaining weight (she's a 4 lbs. adult cat). She's still very active, and she seems to eat a lot. How can I help her live as well as possible?

Poor Lily. Stress and exposure to ill animals should be avoided. FIV-positive cats should be kept indoors both to protect them from exposure to disease and also to prevent them from spreading FIV to other cats. Maintaining good nutrition will help support the immune system.
