My Shih Tzu puppies eat each other's poop. How do I stop it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 22 days old | 3 lbs

How do I get my 3-1/2 month old Shihtzu sisters to stop eating each other’s poop. I forgot to add they have a Doggy door to go out on the deck to go potty. So I don’t always see them go out in time to stop the munchies.

This is not unusual behavior but it should be deterred. The good news is, most dogs will outgrow this. Here is a helpful link: https://www.petcoach.co/article/stool-eating-coprophagy/ I hope this helps.

You can try using Forbid powder. The behavior is called coprophagy - there is a link to an article below about this problem. ( https://www.allivet.com/p-1193-for-bid.aspx ) ( https://www.petcoach.co/article/stool-eating-coprophagy/ )
