Why does my puppy pee inside right after coming from outside?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 26 days old | 7 lbs

Hello, I am in desperate need of some help for my pug puppy. She is not understanding potty training at all. We go out and reward her when she goes outside, but there are days she's out there for thirty minutes and still won't go, but the second we come inside, she will on the carpet or on my bed. It's getting to the point that we are washing the sheets almost everyday. We've used deterrent and have been bopping her butt a little (not hard, just enoug) but when she does, but nothing is helping

Try crate training Minnie Rose. Here is a great link: https://www.petcoach.co/article/how-to-crate-train-your-dog/ Keep in mind, at her age she can only hold her urine about 4 hours. Each month it will increase by 1 hour. Remove the puppy pads unless absolutely needed as this only causes confusion (is it ok to go potty in the house?). Assuming she will not potty in the crate. Take her outside for 15 minutes, if she does not potty outside, CARRY her back inside and put her back in the crate for 30-45 minutes. Then CARRY her back outside for another 15 minutes. You will repeat this until she potties outside. Praise her immensely and give her treats as soon as she potties. Then she can be free in the house. Using a leash and baby gates in the house will help to avoid her from having accidents. For now, I recommend to stop the the bottom bopping so that you don't accidentally make her afraid of you. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.
