Why is my dog's MPV elevated? She has pale gums and gained weight.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 185 lbs

I recently took my golden retriever in for some blood work just to see how she's doing...she's three years old. Everything was normal except her MPV which was slightly elevated... she does have pale gums once in awhile has gained over 10lbs in a year and is not much interested in food...but we eventually get her to eat...

Here is a great link about MPV: http://eclinpath.com/hematology/tests/mpv/ This lab value should not be evaluated on it's own and should always be in conjunction with the platelet count. I recommend to call your veterinarian with any further questions since they have the rest of the lab work and know Molly best. I hope this helps.
