What to do for dog's bleeding testicle sore when I can't afford vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Catahoula Leopard Dog | Male | unneutered | 1 year old | 90 lbs

I have a dog, he's a mutt, mostly Louisiana cur. He is about 80-100 pounds. He has a black sore that was bleeding yesterday until I put triple antibiotic on it. The cut/sore is on his testicles. They are inflamed and red. I am very worried though I do not have the money to afford a vet bill until at least two weeks from now when I get paid. I do not qualify for care credit. What should I do?

It’s hard to say what could be causing the wound on Charlie. The most important thing you can do right now is keep him from licking it by wearing an e-collar. You can keep the area clean with mild soap and water and apply neosporin twice a day while you save money to have him evaluated by a vet. You might also call local animal shelters or clinic to ask for financial support groups in your area or low-cost vet services.
