My cat was attacked and is hiding. What can I give him for pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 16 lbs

My 16 year old cat got out of the door without my knowledge and he was attacked by two male feral cats. I can’t see any blood, but he’s hiding in the bottom of the cat tree. Is there anything I can give him?

Poor Bobo! Unfortunately, there are no over-the-counter pain medications that are safe to use in cats. If he's hiding and seems painful, I would recommend taking him to the vet for an exam - it's possible that he may be seriously hurt. Your veterinarian can check him over carefully to see where he's injured, and can prescribe pain medication as well as antibiotics or other meds if needed depending on what is found.
