My GSD puppy's ear flopped at 5 months. Will it stand up again after teething?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 7 days old | 50 lbs

So this is my first time owning a gsd puppy. We got him at 14 weeks old. up until 5 months his ears was always up sticking up no matter what he was doing. Soon as he turned 5 months his left ear has been down. I did notice that all 4 of his fangs fell out recently. His last fang fell out about 3 days ago. Will his ears go back up? Alot of people say at 5 months his ears should be up. Other say 7 months. I need some advice! I'm a over protective parent :(

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It takes time for the cartilage in the ear to strengthen and stand up permanently. I wouldn’t be concerned at this time about his ears as he is still young and growing. It is also normal for his baby teeth to fall out- and all should have fallen out by 6 months. It sounds like Noble is right on track! Kisses to Noble!
