My cat's eye looks infected. Is it serious? When should I see a vet?

Hello, sorry to hear about Skittles. It does appear that he has a left eye infection. It can indeed be serious, for example he could have a deep corneal ulcer. It could be a superficial eye infection, or even a flare up of an upper respiratory tract infection. You should indeed have skittles seen soon to make sure he does not have a deep corneal ulcer that requires aggressive medical intervention. Look for any signs of sneezing, nasal discharge, or bilateral ocular discharge as these may be more consistent with an upper respiratory tract infection. Please contact your veterinarian soon to have him evaluated. Hope this helps and best of luck.
