Is healthy weight dry food safe for a normal weight adult indoor cat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 2 years and 11 months old | 11 lbs

My male cat is a bit overweight and he’s eating Halo’s indoor healthy weight dry food. I have a female cat who has a normal weight and since she’s also an indoor cat, I figured at first she can eat this food as well, but is that safe and healthy for her? Or should I get her regular dry adult food? She’s been eating it so far and plays around. Thank you! :)

As long as Julie does not have any health concerns that require a special diet, this food should be fine for her, you just may need to monitor her that she doesn't lose weight if she is currently at a good weight. You may need to give her a little extra food that your overweight cat does not get if she does begin to lose weight.
