My dog has a fast-growing red bump on her paw. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female | unspayed | 20 lbs

I recently moved with my dog, and my roommate has other dogs. over the past few weeks my jack russell has had a small red bump appear on her paw, it docent seem to bother her but I'm worried because it grew pretty fast. I haven't gotten her spring vaccinations yet , could it be from being introduced to new dogs?

I recommend to have Nellie examined by her veterinarian. Skin masses can be many things but red raised masses are especially concerning for a skin cancer called a Mast Cell tumor. Your veterinarian will need to collect a sample of cell to examined under the microscope to determine what this is and if further treatment is needed. I don't suspect this is related to the move or the other dogs. Have this checked out soon and best of luck.
