My hamster has tiny bugs. Could they be mites? What OTC treatment?

Yes I have 2 male syrian hamsters. They both had these little bugs that I assume or mites but I've reas that you cant see mites so I'm unsure what they are. They are about the size of a pinpoint and easily squashable. I've gotten one hamster cleared just having issues with the second. Is this mites and is there anything over the counter I can use

Yes, they are likely to be mites, even though to confirm this clinical suspicion at least a picture would be needed. I would strongly recommend to have an effective treatment on prescription given by your local veterinary clinic as a lot of over the counter treatments do not actually work.
