My dog has a loose tooth. Should I wait for it to fall or get a second opinion?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | unspayed | 11 years and 8 months old

My dog has a loose tooth and the vet told me , eventually the tooth will fall by itself. And I asked if she could remove it but she said no. And I'm worried. Should I just wait to my dog looses her tooth ? Or take her to other vet? Thank you!

When pets develop loose teeth, it generally indicates there’s dental disease and they should be addressed with a dental cleaning. I recommend to get a second opinion. Although the tooth will eventually fall out, she may have other teeth that are diseased or will become diseased with out proper preventive care. I hope this helps.
