Should I worry about a painless lump and swelling on my dog's side?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Female | spayed | 40 lbs

Hello! I noticed my dog is a little swollen on the side and she has a little ball on that same side and it’s small and doesn’t hurt or anything but her side is a little swollen. Should I be concerned? Vet said it might be a cyst but I couldn’t have it checked since it’s pricey but I care so much about her! Any idea on what it can be or why there’s a little swelling overall she seems in a great mood. Thank you!

If you're concerned enough about it the best course of action is to have it checked out/tested to see if it's a cyst or something else, especially if it is bothersome or growing in size. Unfortunately, without testing the site, it would be impossible to tell what it is just from looking at it.
