Please help, my dog ran away from home and someone found her on the streets, she has been away from home for almost two week and she Can home like so. I am sorry to hear about Mocha. While difficult to evaluate from a photo, this appears to be a large wound. Mocha needs veterinary attention, this wound needs be to be thoroughly cleaned and most likely sutured (stitched) closed and she needs antibiotics and pain medication.

This may due to an extremely severe allergy, a burn injury (so the skin which has fallen off died) but it could also be infection (bacterial or viral) or mites. An immediate check up is absolutely needed as antibiotic treatment and pain relief medications will be needed. I would recommend she be seen by her regular veterinarian to try to determine the underlying cause of her lesions and any diagnostics (skin scrapes or cultures) that may be needed to get her on any treatment (antibiotics, anti-itch medications, parasiticide) that she may need to help resolve the issue. Hello. It looks to be a bacterial infection on Murphy's skin. These are often very treatable using a medicated antibacterial shampoo available from your veterinarian. The stress from your move may have set things off, but it is very treatable. Once your vet confirms there is nothing else going on with Murphy she will prescribe the appropriate medicated shampoo. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Lily. I would recommend bathing her with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based one. If this does not resolve the issue, she will need to see her veterinarian. Skin test can be performed for ringworm and mites. If these are both negative, then an allergy would be the next most likely cause. I hope this information is a good starting point!

I just noticed a skin irritation with alot of flaky particles, not really sure if it's skin or not. I tried to get touch it and remove some of it and his hair is coming out in clumps. 5yo blue heeler with no known health problem.

Hi there, Thanks for the picture. It appears the wound itself is superficial, but with all the skin flakes, I worry there could be some type of skin infection involved. If he is itchy and bothered by that area, that raises my suspicion for an infection or other skin problem. I'd have him seen by his regular veterinarian this week for a physical, and they will guide you best on diagnostics or treatments after seeing him. In the meantime, you can clean the area with warm saline or epsom salt water and then let it dry. I wouldn't apply any ointments as sometimes these can trap and worsen an infection if present. I would recommend reposting your question with a picture of Murphy's skin so that we can get a thorough evaluation of what may be going on here. However, from what you have described, it sounds like Muprhy may have some skin allergies and possibly a secondary bacterial infection going on. This is treated with allergy medicine through your vet, because over the counter anithistamines are not as effective in dogs as they are in people. A medicated shampoo may also be needed to help resolve Murphy's skin problems. I still encourage you to repost your question with a picture so that we can confirm our suspicions of a skin allergy. Poor girl. I would highly recommend having her tested for demodexx mites, hypothyroidism, and a fungal infection. Either of these can cause these symptoms, but they can also all be treated with relatively good success. Best of luck to you at the vet. Best wishes and take care.

Loss of appetite can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Yoyo evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. Hi there! There are quite a few things that can cause hair loss in dogs, so it's hard to say what might be wrong without being able to examine Mello and do some testing. Some common possibilities would include allergies, fleas, a bacterial or fungal skin infection, or skin mites (mange). Treatment will depend on what the underlying problem is, so it's important to get a diagnosis first. Because of this, I would recommend taking Mello to the vet for an exam when you are able to. He/she can do some simple skin tests to help diagnose the problem and get him started on appropriate medication to treat it depending on what is found.
