My dog is dizzy, walking funny, shaking, and gassy. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Male | unneutered | 4 years and 5 months old

My 4 year old beagle Dan seems very dizzy. He was fine all day, acting as he normally does, and then laid down for about 3 hours. Around 5:30 pm he got up and seemed to fall over. He was walking funny when I took him to the bathroom. When we came back from dinner I noticed his nose was dry as well. He is breathing normal and is still alert. He is just shaking a bit and walks funny. He is also having some foul smelling gas.

Poor Dan! Don't worry about the dry nose, it's not a sign of illness. A dog's nose can go from wet to dry just by laying in the sun or by a heat source. It could be he is in pain or is sick. I would monitor him tonight, and if he is still acting this way in the morning, have him seen by a vet. Best of luck.
