My cat has a nose wound. Is it infected, or will it heal naturally?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 5 years and 5 months old

My cat has a wound on her nose since 1 week. Probably after fighting with other cats. I wondered if there is an infection or absces that require medication or disinfectant. Whether it is a normal wound that will simply heal? Her eating behavior is unchanged. However, she stays more indoors and drinks less. She is also more affectionate and therefore comes to me more often.

Poor Poppy! I don't see any signs of infection from the picture, but without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. I'd have her checked out by a vet to be safe, especially since she is drinking less and staying more indoors.
